Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Welcome to Likable. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we process it, and your rights regarding your data.
Likable is a speaking practice app that uses AI to help you improve your communication skills. We designed the app with privacy in mind — your audio recordings never leave your device, and we minimize the data we collect to only what's necessary to provide the service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect the following depending on your sign-in method:

You may also set a display name in your profile, which is stored with your account.
2.2 Speech Data
- Audio recordings: Stored locally on your device only. Never uploaded to the cloud.
- Transcripts: Text transcriptions of your speech, stored in our cloud database.
- Analysis results: AI-generated feedback including charisma scores, filler word counts, speaking pace, pause analysis, and clarity scores — stored in our cloud database as part of your session history.
2.3 Usage Data
- Speaking session records (duration, word count, charisma score, date)
- Streak information and daily completion tracking
- Aggregated statistics (total practice minutes, total words spoken, total sessions, best score)
2.4 Device Information (Bug Reports Only)
When you voluntarily submit a bug report, we collect:
- Device model
- Operating system version
- App version
This information is collected only when you submit a bug report and is used solely for diagnosing and fixing issues.
2.5 Community Feedback
If you submit feedback through the app's feedback board, your feedback text is stored in our database. Feedback is displayed anonymously to other users — your name and email are never shown publicly.
3. How We Process Your Data
Likable uses two different processing pipelines depending on your device:
3.1 On-Device Processing (iOS 26+)
On supported devices running iOS 26 or later:
- Transcription: Apple SpeechAnalyzer processes your audio entirely on-device. No audio or transcript data is sent to external servers during transcription.
- Analysis: Apple Foundation Models (on-device AI) generates your speaking analysis. All AI processing happens locally on your device.
Nothing leaves your device during the transcription and analysis phases on iOS 26+. Only the final results (transcript text and analysis data) are saved to our cloud database for your session history.
3.2 Cloud Processing (iOS < 26)
On devices running iOS versions earlier than 26:
- Transcription: Audio is sent securely to our Supabase Edge Function, which processes it using OpenAI Whisper. Audio is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers.
- Analysis: Your transcript is sent to our Supabase Edge Function, which uses OpenAI GPT-4o-mini to generate your speaking analysis.
All cloud processing uses encrypted HTTPS connections and server-side API keys (your device never directly contacts OpenAI).

5. Data Storage
5.1 Cloud Storage (Supabase)
- User profiles and account information
- Speaking session records with transcripts and analysis data
- Streak and completion tracking data
- Bug reports and feedback entries
All cloud data is protected by Supabase Row Level Security (RLS) — you can only access your own data.
5.2 Local Storage (Your Device)
- Audio recordings (M4A format)
- UI preferences and settings
- Daily limit tracking
- Onboarding completion status
6. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide the speaking practice and AI feedback service
- Maintain your session history and track your progress
- Calculate and display streaks and statistics
- Authenticate your account and protect your data
- Diagnose bugs and improve the app (from voluntarily submitted bug reports)
- Display community feedback (anonymously)
7. Data Sharing
We take a strong stance on your data privacy:
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
- We do not serve ads. Likable has no advertising of any kind.
- We do not use external analytics. We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any third-party analytics service.
- We do not share your data with third parties except as required to provide the service (see Section 4) or as required by law.
8. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view your speaking history, stats, and profile data within the app at any time.
- Deletion: You can request full account deletion, which will cascade-delete all associated data from our cloud database (profiles, sessions, transcripts, analyses, completions, bug reports, and feedback).
- Correction: You can update your display name and profile information at any time.
- Portability: You can request a copy of your data by contacting us at erion.malaj@gmx.ch.
9. Data Security
We implement the following security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption in transit: All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Row Level Security: Supabase RLS ensures users can only access their own data at the database level.
- Server-side API keys: API keys for third-party services (OpenAI) are stored server-side in Supabase Edge Functions — never embedded in the app or exposed to clients.
- Secure authentication: We use industry-standard OAuth providers (Apple, Google) and Supabase Auth for secure account management.
10. Children's Privacy
Likable is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 11. No Analytics or Tracking
Likable is designed with minimal data collection in mind:
- No cookies: We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.
- No third-party analytics: We do not integrate any analytics SDKs or services.
- No advertising identifiers: We do not collect or use device advertising IDs.
- No behavioral tracking: We do not track your browsing behavior, app usage patterns, or create behavioral profiles.
12. GDPR Compliance
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland:
- Legal basis: We process your data based on your consent (when you create an account and use the service) and for the performance of our contract with you (providing the speaking practice service).
- Right to be forgotten: You can request complete deletion of all your data at any time.
- Data portability: You can request a machine-readable copy of your data.
- Right to object: You can object to data processing by discontinuing use and requesting account deletion.
- Data minimization: We only collect and retain data necessary to provide the service.
13. CCPA Compliance
For California residents:
- Right to know: You can request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected.
- Right to delete: You can request deletion of your personal information.
- Right to opt out: We do not sell personal information, so there is no sale to opt out of.
- Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or via email. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated. Your continued use of Likable after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
